What is Translation?
Translation is a complex skill reliant on two foundational fluencies: 1) that of the target language and 2) that of the source language. That is, we need to first become proficient in both our L1 (first-language, English) and L2 (second-language, Tibetan), separately and before we begin translating. This is because translation requires us to comprehend the Tibetan in the Tibetan, and then render it into English.
